February 27, 2010 - Field Gear and field trip!
I get to head out tomorrow for a work project, out in the true north and night shift as well. The photo I took was a pile of some of the gear I am going to be bringing with me, lots of stuff, but then again when its cold out you cant have too many layers. Also watched the exciting mens gold metal curling and bronze mens hockey. Exciting day.

February 23, 2010 - Another rainy day in vancouver
Today was back to typical vancouver february weather... rain. Nothing to interesting happened today, just walked Sophie in the rain and watched canada win against germany. I cheated with one of my photos for today, it is actually from my shoot yesterday. It was so fun! The second shot is just another one of cherry blossoms because i still cant believe we have them now.
bizarre.

February 22, 2010 - First official photo shoot with people! and cherry blossoms
So today I got to shoot a lovely couple that responded to a posting i had made on craigslist looking for people to photo. We had a lot of fun down on the beach but man was it cold! I have not gotten around to editing all of their photos and will put one or two up tomorrow. If you are reading this, thank you for the opportunity to shoot you guys!

February 21, 2010 - Dying Rose
Did not get around to taking any photos today! Brought my camera but when i went to post I did not have any shots. This one is a quick one i took of a rose i got for heather on valentines day which is starting to get a bit old. I like the drying/wrinkled edges of the peddles.

February 20, 2010 - Granville Island Part 2
Decided to take a break from olympic shots and try to capture how nice of a day it was down at Granville island. Shot is facing north west and shows the clear blue sky we had yesterday reflecting in the water. Also finally won a game of settlers! woo hoo!

February 19, 2010 - Czech vs. Latvia
Super fun game, half of the fans were wearing canada jerseys but lots of cheering for both teams. Entertaining and lots of fun. Photos are of the ridiculous way they had the line up to get into the building and a view from our seats.

February 18, 2010 - Pins, pins and more pins!
I cant believe how many people there are downtown that are trading pins! there are people with pins from every sponsor for every olympics for the last 3 or 4 winter games. This truly is a interesting hobby and I myself got a pin for my olympic spirit - its a canadian flag pin as small as my pinkie finger nail that i pinned to my camera strap. Anyways, the photo I took was near waterfront station where there was a line of people with trays and trays of pins. Never have i seen so many.
February 17, 2010 - False Creek Lights
Sweet shot of the light show that goes on every night at the entrance to false creek. The lights in the background are Cypress mountain and a passing airplane.

February 16, 2010 - Robson Square
So today was pretty fun, walked around downtown with heather and kate, watched canada get their second gold metal (in border cross) and watched the mens hockey team dominate. The photo is from Robson square showing some of the people, the outdoor skating rink (covered with the glass roof) and the zip line! Going to try and get a ride on that before they take it down after the olympics.

February 13, 2010 - Olympics Day 1
Today was pretty good, checked out some olympic events and went down to Granville Island to see the Swiss house and wonder around with Rob. Watched the Canadian womens hockey team destroy and the dutch win their first gold! Photo for today is actually three photos: flags at Granville island, the statue outside the swiss house on granville island and the granville island market sign.
enjoy,

February 12, 2010 - Winter Olympic Opening Ceremony
Well i did not get to goto the actual opening ceremony but i did go downtown and enjoy it with a bunch of people at the yaletown brewery. not much time to write as i am tired but here is my photo. I was on the Cambie bridge on my way home and saw the crowds coming out of BC place. Also Cambie bridge was completely bumper to bumper with the tour busses! bizarre.. o wait, just olympic antics.

February 11, 2010 - Torch Relay
Was lucky enough to get a glimpse of the torch relay before they made their final journey to the opening ceremonies which are tomorrow night! Town is starting to buzz, its very evident with much larger increases in transit, more olympic security and lots of team uniforms! The next few days will be very interesting, see if they got their estimates right for traffic control etc. The photo was taken up by my parents house. The top photo is right before the lighting of the next section of the olympic flame and the bottom image is the crazy amount of people that were there to see it. Never have I seen that street so busy, but then again never have we had such a big event in the city.

February 10, 2010 - Olympic opening ceremony!
Hey there readers,
Had lots of fun today. went with Rob to the opening ceremony dress rehearsal. Its all hush hush so i can't say anything except it was really neat! Photo is the most olympic stuff I could scavenge up before bed: two red olympic mittens and my ticket for the rehearsal. Also got some time off work now so I will try to get a lot more interesting olympics stuff up in the next few days!
Cheers,
g.

February 9, 2010 - Tea and anticipation
Today i decided to take a photo of a tea bag. No reason really just thought it was neat. The anticipation is for the olympics. It will be really neat to see all the people from around the world here and to try to capture some of the feel in some photos. Will be my first public event shooting and will try to get some good editorial photos up. Enjoy

February 8, 2010 - Sushi class
Hello there reader. Today I went to a Sushi class with Heather and Rob. It was rather fun, got to learn about the history of where sushi came from and what the different types are. The photo for today is of the roll that i made. It contained avocado, asparagus, mini shrimp and japanese mayo sauce topped with sesame seeds.
Delicious.

February 7, 2010 - Pink Flowers and Superbowl?
Hey, just got back from watching the superbowl. A good time every year with lots of chit chat about everything under the moon and also watching some good old fashion football. I forgot my camera today so I just had to take a picture of a new batch of flowers that we have in our apartment.

February 4, 2010 - Tennis
Hello all.
Today was pretty neat. I believe the maximum temp it reached here was ~13C and sunny. Not bad for a place hosting the winter olympics. I got out in my T-shirt and shorts today and played tennis for the first time this year. boy am i rusty... well i can only get better. Olympics traffic 'control' has been implemented starting today. We will see how well it works to have your plan incorporate a magical 30% reduction of people commuting to work. Any-who. enough for now. I think i will be around for the olympics so i will try to get out and about during the next couple weeks and see what i can capture.

February 3, 2010 - No parking
Hello,
This photo was taken in a little lower entrance to a building which did not even have access via car. I was a little shocked that there was a no parking sign but I thought it was pretty interesting. Again used a bit of photoshop to liven it up a bit... no sun = dull colours.
Tonight was pretty fun. Went to a trivia night hosted by a few friends. Good times were had and many a heckling comment hurled. I 'won' two t-shirts which is good because I always seem to be running out of them ;).
Go'nite.

February 2, 2010 - City Hall
Fun day today. Nothing to big to report. Same old same old. Febriciency is under way so I need to get more efficient at taking/uploading these earlier so i can get to bed faster. The photo for today was taken on my way home from the bay with the last of our wedding gifts. I did a little bit of photoshop editing to enhance the cloud effects and colours.

February 1st - Escalator
First day in Febriciency. This term came from a few years ago when Cory and I were room mates. We decided that we were going to have an efficient February and that the first thing to do was to make it easier to say such a word. So far so good I would have to say... going to get all my 'new years resolutions' in action and pretty much just stop procrastinating with respect to things I need to get done. The photo for today is of a man in front of me on the escalator on my way home from work. I was going to ninja shoot someone on the street today but i didnt have the right lens (aka stalker zoom lens) and it was raining so i decided to postpone it for another day this week.
enjoi.
